7th and 8th Grades
Working from 5 x 7 inch photographs (with hand/s) taken in class by Mrs. Kramer, we make a grid on our photo and transfered it to an 1 2 x 18 inch grid on white paper. We traced this onto tracing paper which we flipped onto another white sheet of paper (to save for another project) and flipped AGAIN onto black construction . paper.
Students were asked to work with unusual coloring for the skin areas using their favorite colors or colors that reflected their mood. Care was given to the low-lights and high-lights of the skin. Students learned how to work with craypas...not blending with fingers but instead to lay down several layers of colors to give a blending effect with craypas (a mixture of crayon and pastel). Despite the time it took to transfer and flip a few times, everyone was quite pleased with the final project.
