High School Advancement Information for 8th Graders

The 2017-2018 SRVUSD Course Advancement Program is open!  There have been a few changes to the program this year so be sure to check out the updated High School Advancement page on our District Website for details.  Please pay particular attention to the listed deadlines

A note about 8th graders who want to Advance...

8th grade students who are currently enrolled in Accelerated Algebra 1 or Geometry can begin taking courses in the spring of their 8th grade year.

It is important to note that 8th graders who are currently enrolled in California State Standards 8 math CANNOT advance through Biology over the summer as Algebra 1 is a prerequisite for any kind of Chemistry class (college prep or Honors) and they will not have met that requirement. Additionally, Algebra 1 must be taken at an SRVUSD school and cannot be taken via a summer course.

Sixth and Seventh grade students cannot advance via the summer advancement program. If you have questions, please contact the counselor at your student's school.
