About Me...

My journey as an educator began when I decided that working in the film and TV industry was not for me. I knew in my heart  I was meant to do more meaningful things with my life. Teaching kids appealed to me for many reasons. To be a mentor to middle schoolers felt like the best way to spend my days. To inspire! That is what I want to do each day, however I can. To create a nurturing learning environment that allows a child to grow in creativity, kindness, and self worth brings me joy. So I switched gears and went back to school to get a B.A. in Teaching and Learning at CSU Channel Islands. Shortly thereafter, I returned to my home town to attend CSU Sacramento where I received my teaching credential.

I landed at the best school in the best district! How blessed am I to teach 8th graders here at Los Cerros! This will be my fourth year teaching 8th grade Core (American History & English Language Arts).  I love working with 8th graders! I am also grateful to be LC's Video Production teacher. After working in the entertainment business, its nice to be able to intertwine some of those skills with my students. We have a lot of fun in this class. Middle School kids have the funniest sense of humor. Its a great way to start the day! :D

When I am not at Los Cerros I enjoy going on day trips to all the lovely places in Northern California. I love being in nature as much as possible and spending time with my fur baby, Penelope and my fiancee Todd. I also have a strong interest in the field of health and nutrition. This passion pushes me to bring awareness to my students on the benefits of a healthy mind-body connection. This year I will be adding the Mindup Curriculum - brain focused strategies for learning and living. This curriculum was developed by the Hawn Institute in conjunction with SCHOLASTIC. I feel it is very important to teach kids about how their brain functions and how to give their brain a break with mindful breathing.

I am looking forward to another great year here at Los Cerros!

Be well,

Heather Tittle
