EMPLOYER MATCHING

How can you help? 

(1) If you have already made a donation to Academic Boosters this year, please take a moment and see if your employer will match your contribution.  Contact your HR representative or click here for online information.  

(2) If you know your employer will not match, are retired, self-employed, etc., email Penny Chuah pyccpa@yahoo.com and let us know;

(3) Forward any match confirmation (or paperwork to be completed) from your company to Penny Chuah pyccpa@yahoo.com .  We are budgeted to collect over $10,500 in employer matching funds this year.  With your help, we can ensure that every last dollar is collected.  Thank you!

Los Cerros Middle School Academic Boosters

Dear Los Cerros Families:

The Board of Los Cerros Academic Booster Fund is excited to report that the percentage of families who have donated to our Academic Boosters Fund has increased 15% from last year, but sadly, we are still short of our budget goal to fund 10 class sections.   We need your help in raising another $21,197 to reduce class sizes and meet our budget for parent donations.  Please make a donation today one of these three ways:

·       drop your check off at the office

·       mail your donation to P.O. Box 354, Diablo, CA  94528.

For those who have donated, we thank you for your participation in class size reduction at Los Cerros.

For those who make their contribution by check, a receipt will be sent to you.  If you make your donation online via Rev Trak you can print the donation receipt by logging on to the Boosters Web store; https://secure.revtrak.net/loscerrosatbf/tek9.asp?pg=extranet&sess=490adebffdddb6eed91c8cb7006ee827 ; Click "order history" and select the contribution date for which you'd like to reprint your receipt.

Log onto www.escrip.com and RENEW your eScrip membership.  All you need is your phone number, address, email address, and your Safeway Club Card with the ten digit number (not phone number).  It takes just a few minutes and will earn FREE MONEY for Los Cerros Middle School .  Every time you go to Safeway and buy groceries, run your Safeway Club Card and Los Cerros will get a percentage of the amount you spend.

Boosters FAQ

Q.  What is a section?

A.  A section is one class taught during one period all year.  For example, a student’s 3rd period science class is one section.  Each full-time teacher teaches 6 sections each day; each student takes 7 sections each day.  One section cost approximately $14,826 and there are typically between 140 – 150 sections (classes) each school day.

 

Q. How much do parents in other schools in our district contribute to their education fund?

A. Charlotte Wood Middle school asks a $395 donation per student and boasts 75% participation from parents funding 14 sections.  Stone Valley Middle school requests a $495 donation per student and is targeting 14 sections funded in the next school year.  Diablo Vista Middle School asks $325 per student and funded 12 sections this last school year.  Los Cerros asked a $350 donation with 43% participation from parents and funded 8 sections.

 

Q. What percent of Booster funding is from parent donations?

A.  Our Booster donations are currently 85% parent, 8% Corporate Matching, and 7% eScrip.

 

Q.  If Los Cerros parents raise enough money to purchase a large number of sections, will that reduce the amount the district gives our school.

A.  The funding level provided to the school is based on student enrollment.  The district funds our classes at a 1 teacher for every 29 students.  That funding is in no way affected by parent donations.

 

Q.  If I donate, do I get any tax advantages?

A.  Yes, Los Cerros Academic Boosters is a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  All donations are 100% tax deductible to the full extent the law allows for the calendar year in which you make your contributions.

 

Q.  Can I donate on line by credit card?

A.  Yes, through the Web store at http://loscerrosatbf.revtrak.net/tek9.asp.  However, we are charged about 4% by Revtrak for this convenience; therefore, the most effective way to donate is by check.

 

Q.  How do I pursue Corporate Matching funds?

A.   We can often double parent donations through Corporate Matching from your employer.   Many employers match your donations – check our website for a list.  If you need assistance, or have questions, please contact Penny Chuah at pyccpa@yahoo.com.
